The Trust for Sustainable Living has launched an essay competition for young people worldwide, from 7 to 17 years old, and their teachers in formal and home schools, to write open letters to the soon-to-be-elected new UN Secretary General outlining their ideas for practical climate action. Primary students (ages 7-11) are invited to submit an essay on the theme “My Plan for Climate Action” (maximum 400 words) and secondary students (ages 11-17) should submit an essay on the theme “We Can Beat Climate Change by 2030” (maximum 600 words). For each category, schools are invited to submit up to 30 essays online. Trophies for 1st to 5th places will be awarded in each category (Primary and Secondary) and one overall Grand Prize Winner (plus Teacher Champion and Parent) will receive a free trip to the 2015 International Schools Debate and Awards in the UK from 3rd to 7th July 2017.
